National Bike Train Competition
Sabin Wins!!!!!!!
Thanks for everyone who participated in the competition. Looking forward to a pizza party. Here is a message from Sabin bike train leader Bill about the pizza party:
There will be FREE PIZZA AND DRINKS for the bicycling and skateboarding kids (a contribution of $5 is requested for each adult…)
This event is sponsored by Kiel Johnson’s bike train grant, with additional support from 4th grade teacher Vangie Shaw, Bill & Bob, and the PTA Wellness Committee…
WHEN: WEDNESDAY, MAY 9, 5:30pm
WHERE: OLD TOWN PIZZA, 5201 NE MLK (plenty of bicycle parking available : )
Once again, congrats to the many bicycling and skateboarding students, parents, teachers and staff at Sabin.
Not only do you inspire others (including your competition last month in California), but you contribute to a school-wide culture of health and wellness that is recognized by local news (television, web, print), viral videos (link below), and national media (a story is coming in Bicycling magazine). Your efforts raise money for Sabin, helping win grants, provide bike locks, pumps, lights and other gear to students. You attract City involvement in infrastructure improvement, and free greenway breakfasts (also set for this Wednesday!), and convince your parents and teachers to support bike shelters, run volunteer bike safety classes, and offer celebratory pizza parties at Old Town..!
Keep riding safely & Cheers!
Bill & family
